Welcome to Bird on a Wire!
We’re always happy to have visitors, so be sure to take a peek around and check out all of our goodies.
We house everything from reclaimed furniture and home decor to party must-haves and jewelry. Make sure you come back often and take a look at our new arrivals, too – we always have something fabulous in store!
Just so you know, I have not been sitting around all summer eating bonbons. Although, my husband and I did take a fabulous trip in early June to the French Polynesian Islands sailing around the islands in a 39′ foot catamaran (o.k., I may have lied, I did have a bonbon one day, the islands are French after all). But since then, lots and lots have been going on behind the scenes at Bird On A Wire.
Renovations at our new wire, 108 West Jefferson Street, were completed just last week. That is great news. Boxes and smalls have been deposited in appropriate spots and large items are being moved into the new spot next Tuesday. More good news. One of my dearest, long time, and extremely creatively talented friend, Janna Long, has joined my one gal team. I’ve yet to come up with an appropriate title for her as she goes way beyond what anyone could hope for in an employee. We have not eaten any bonbons just lots of salads (watching our figures of course) and sipped a few glasses of wine as we pack, move, unpack, paint, clean, etc., etc… Red for her, white for me. Especially exciting news. Kristen will be tending shop again, too. The punches just keep coming!
Before I left my home yesterday to grab a cup of coffee with Janna to pow wow about a to-do list and move some boxes, I had a brief conversation with my husband and asked if he would consider getting more involved in my business. His reply: ”I’ll think about it, but you’re kinda a perfectionist. Not sure it would work. ” He’s probably correct. He’s kinda like a bull in a china shop. But, opposites do attract or so they say.
The pow wow session with Janna went smashing-ly. I’ve been planning to open the store in the next couple of weeks. A soft opening with a grand re-opening the first weekend in October. There is still a TON of tasks to complete so I thought I could at least open and continue to get things in order until grandeur could happen. After knocking out our list. Janna batted her eyes at me and said, “You know, you’ve been buying some amazing things for the shop all summer, the renovations are fabulous and the plans for merchandising the space are going to be awesome. I think you should just wait to open until you can open with bang.” Perfectionism.
That was the plan and Bird On A Wire Grandly Re-Opened on Friday October 4, 2013.
